Pittsford stops M.L.S. one win short of state title

Michigan Lutheran Seminary players receive their second placemedals after Saturday's game.

The Michigan Lutheran Seminary girl's basketball team saw their Cinderella season come to an end in the first game of the day as they fell to Pittsford 71-31 in the Class D state finals.

After a 9 to 13 start to the season the Cardinals ripped off ten straight wins they took them all the way to the finals this morning and despite the loss, players and coaches all say they are extremely proud of what this group accomplished this year.

Head Coach Brian Blaine had to have a difficult conversation with the team after the loss.

"It hurts right now, especially, because we didn't put our best effort forward," he said. "But the girls battled hard and they're going to get a chance to look back at this and realize, there's only eight teams that get to play for a state title and so at the end of the day that's a pretty awesome experience."

Sophomore forward Meghan Blaine fought back to the tears as she addressed the media.

"We got the maximum amount of games that we could play with our seniors and we're really going to miss them next year."
