Football Week in Michigan tour visits FOX66

FLINT-- There's nothing like a visit from the legendary Cleatus the Robot and his football friends! FOX Sports Detroit brought the Football Week In Michigan tour bus to the FOX66 studios this morning to promote the second annual community intiative presented by Kroger.

Football Week In Michigan (FWIM) highlights high school championship games, as well as college and profession action over a nine-day span on FOX networks. The week also includes in a statewide tour bringing former football players and the network's mascot, Cleatus, to Kroger locations to help collect money for the grocery chain's Zero Hunger/Zero Waste campaign.

"Football Week in Michigan is more than just a week of football," said Greg Hammaren, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports Detroit. "With the added excitement and exposure of the Football Week in Michigan bus tour, we are able to team up with Kroger to utilize this powerful platform to fight hunger in our state."

Kroger is committed to ending hunger by 2025 and eliminating waste across the company by 2020. Fans may donate $1, $5 or $10 at checkout to help feed the hungry through six local food banks in Michigan, including the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission in Bay City.

Former University of Michigan Wolverine Mike Martin and former Michigan State Spartan Greg Jones II joined Cleatus on the visit to FOX66, promoting the week-long tour and Thursday afternoon's stop at the Kroger location at 945 Euclid Avenue in Bay City. All three appeared on FOX66 Mornings with Mike Woolfolk and Rachelle Spence discussing the tour.

Detroit Lions legend Herman Moore and FOX Sports Detroit digital host Brooke Fletcher will join Martin, Jones and Cleatus at the Kroger stop where fans can meet everyone and also make donations to the hunger effort.

Programming on FOX Sports Detroit and FOX66 tied to FWIM includes the special Made in Michigan: Coaching Legends which features a segment on Michigan Sports Hall of Fame member Tom Mach who spent 41 seasons at Detroit Catholic Central High School where he coached Mike Martin. The special airs on FOX Sports Detroit on Thursday night after the Red Wings game.

The Michigan State at Nebraska football game airs on FOX66 on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is at noon.

The Detroit Lions host the Carolina Panthers in NFL action on Sunday. Kickoff from Ford Field is at 1pm, also on FOX66.
