All lanes re-opened: 32-car pileup closes westbound I-94 in Van Buren County

All lanes of Interstate 94 have been re-opened following the clearing of all of the vehicles involved in a 32-car crash near Paw Paw.

Michigan State Police Lt. Dale Hintz, in a written statement on the incident, said that all of the vehicles had been cleared by 11:10 a.m.



One lane of westbound Interstate 94 has reopened following a crash involving 32 cars. No one was seriously injured, and police were able to quickly start clearing the vehicles from the freeway.

As of 11 a.m., one lane had been reopened, and Michigan State Police on the scene said they expected to have the other lane open by 11:15 a.m.


Michigan State Police is asking motorists to avoid I-94 westbound in Van Buren County due to a 32-car pileup near Paw Paw.

Authorities say I-94 is currently closed at Mattawan (exit 66), while vehicles are being cleared from the freeway.

Police reports several minor injuries, but none seem to be life-threatening.

The portion of I-94 westbound is expected to be closed until around 10:30 a.m. today, according to Lt. Dale Hinz.

The Michigan Department of Transportion also reports that westbound I-94 is closed at exit 60 due a crash.
