Wintry weather brings flooding, slick road conditions to mid-Michigan
GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. --From flooding up north to dangerous and possibly deadly driving conditions throughout Genesee County all afternoon, this storm is affecting all Michiganders.
The rain and ice has stopped in Genesee County for now, but the ground is still wet and with temperatures dropping below freezing, these roadways will become even more slick over the next few hours.
I-475 was shut down around 1:30 p.m. Saturday between Atherton and Bristol due to a multi-injury accident. .
An MTA bus in Flint even slid off the road into a home on Court Street.
Clearly the roads in Genesee County are bad, but it's worse in the norther parts of our viewing area, according to road crews in Bay County and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
It seems people have been taking the warnings to heart--road crews say traffic does seems to be down compared to a normal Saturday.
However, the strong winds are blowing the salt around and not letting it remain in place long enough to do its job.
