West Michigan man and service dog kicked out of bar, is it legal?
GOODRICH, Mich. - Veteran Jerome Smith went out with some friends to a restaurant in Grand Rapids to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday.
His service dog, JoJo, was with him.
All was fine until the manager of the establishment refuse to let JoJo in.
Something Kathie Whithouse, trainer of therapy and service dogs says is not legal.
According to the American with Disabilities Act, service animals can go anywhere the public has access as long as they are well behaved and on a leash.
Smith says he hopes this restaurant and other places of business learn these laws and for other handlers and service animal owners to stand their ground when confronted.
