Boy brings loaded gun to Eagle's Nest Academy in Flint

    FLINT, Mich - The Eagles Nest Academy and police have confirmed a student was found with a weapon Thursday morning on campus.

    The weapon was immediately confiscated and Flint Police were called to investigate.

    The building was placed on locked down until 11:15 a.m.

    Police said during a news conference Thursday afternoon, the gun was loaded and the boy told other students he brought a handgun with him.

    He is currently in police custody.

    Police also made contact with the parents and they were interviewed by the police department.

    The school posted on it's Facebook page, "As with all matters of student safety, we have taken this very serious and have acted accordingly, utilizing both school system disciplinary resources and working along side Flint Police. We invite you to be our guest tomorrow morning, Friday, January 11, 2019 at 9:00 am for “Coffee with the Principal” of which you will have an opportunity to ask any questions, you choose, at that time.
