Spartan & Wolverine fans find common ground ahead of rivalry game
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Before kickoff and the rain, there was sun, food, and fun around Spartan Stadium.
"We just came back from a nice tailgate with some Spartan fans," says Eric Egeler, a U of M alumni. "They actually invited us too."
"This is good Americana fun," says Brian Morley, a MSU alumni who tailgates right outside the stadium. "We tailgate here every year," say Morley. "It's a lot of fun. It's like going up north because most of us don't see each other often."
Mixed in with the fun was a little bit of trash talk too.
"I don't think Michigan is #7," says Morley. "I don't think they're that good."
"It doesn't really matter who won last year," says U of M fan Todd McAlvey.
"I think if you handle the rivalry the right way, this is just good natured fun," says Morley. "It's just football."
Despite their differences, Spartan and Wolverine fans can agree on one thing.
"We all hate Ohio State," says Egeler.
