Shoppers saddened to see Hamady close in Flint
FLINT, Mich. - With the closing of Hamady Complete Food Center in Flint, some are wondering what will happen to all the food and other products that remain?
Store owner James McColgan says perishables like bread and milk have been sold.
But the thousands of other items like canned goods are being acquired by the owner of the Hallwood Plaza which owns the store.
They will decide whether to liquidate the items or give them to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
As for those who used to shop there, they're not happy.
"it's right in the area and it has everything that I want, I'm pretty sure others that shop here could say the same thing. ‘Where you gonna go?’ Kroger," said resident Willie Mae Bacon.
Hamady closed last night after being open for less than four months.
