Precautions in place after student allegedly brings loaded gun to school

    FLINT, Mich - Students at the Eagles Nest Academy on Monday will be required to have a clear book bag.

    The school is telling parents not send their children to school with a book bag or purse.

    Students will be provided with a clear bag.

    The school is also telling parents to check their child's things and coats before they leave home.

    All of this comes after a 10-year-old police say was found with a loaded gun on campus last week.

    Charges have now been issued in the case of a 10-year-old boy bringing a loaded gun to a Flint school.

    The incident happened Thursday at Eagle’s Nest Academy, a charter elementary school.

    According to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, charges of carrying a concealed weapon, felonious assault, and a bringing a gun into a gun-free zone were issued Friday afternoon.

    The mother of a child who attends the school claims her child was a target of the boy who is accused of having the loaded gun.
