Passenger train hits SUV in Flint

FLINT, Mich. – A passenger train hit an SUV in Flint Thursday night, causing roads closures near a local auto plant.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. at the railroad crossing on Van Slyke Road near 12th Street, next to GM Flint Assembly Plant where police say an Amtrak train hit the SUV.

There was no word on injuries or the circumstances of the collision.

The intersection of 12th and Van Slyke was closed while crews worked to clear the scene.

Traffic was returned to normal and the train left the scene just after 11:30 p.m.
