The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a warning about dangerous swimming conditions on Lake Michigan.

Large wave and strong currents are just a few reasons why the weather service is advising people to not take a jump into the lake Tuesday.

The following places are under a High Swim Risk:

  • Grand Haven
  • Holland
  • South Haven
  • St. Joseph

The following places are under a Moderate Swim Risk:

  • Ludington
  • Pentwater
  • Muskegon

Waves heights will be between two to five feet all day.

The NWS adds that most drowning occur with waves of that height.
