MOVIE PICK: "Venom" and "A Star Is Born" new in theaters
FLINT-- If your weekend plans include a trip to the movies, you have two new choices making their debuts. One is a music-based remake. The other is the latest offering from Marvel.
"A Star Is Born" features Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in a remake of the 1976 classic which starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a seasoned musician who discovers and falls in love with a struggling artist named Ally. Gaga portrays Ally, who has just about given up on her dream to make it big until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight.
Cooper also directs this film.
Also opening this weekend is "Venom."
Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock, a journalist investigating a the brilliant but notorious Carlton Drake, founder of the Life Foundation. While looking into one of Drake's experiments, Brocks body merges with the alien Venom, leaving him with superhuman strength and power. Twisted, dark and fueled by rage, Venom tries to control the new and dangerous abilities that Brock finds so intoxicating.
