Man arraigned for severe beating of three-year-old boy
SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- ***UPDATE***
Family members say the little boy who was severely beaten by his mother's boyfriend has died.
Police say an autopsy will be performed on the 3-year-old to learn the exact cause of death.
At this time, no additional charges have been filed. Saginaw Township Police Chief Don Pussehl says that will be up to the prosecution.
The man has been identified as 26-year-old Tavaris Williams.
One man has been arrested by Saginaw Township police in a suspected case of child abuse against a three-year-old boy.
The incident was discovered the afternoon of January 1 when police arrived to an apartment on Fontaine Boulevard to find the child severely beaten and not breathing.
Paramedics were able to revive the boy and take him to a local hospital.
According to police, The child is in ‘very serious condition’ in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.
After detectives made an initial investigation, the 26-year-old live-in boyfriend was arrested on a 1st degree child abuse charge.
The case has been presented to the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday where a warrant was issued against the suspect.
He is expected to be arraigned Thursday in Saginaw County District Court.
His identity is being withheld pending arraignment.
