Saturday morning, Hamilton Community Health Network teamed up with several local organizations for a breast cancer chat and chew.
Women had a chance to learn about the stages of breast cancer, current research and treatment.
Event organizers say the goal was making sure women are aware of available services but also encouraging them to do yearly checks.
"It is very important for women to do an annual self breast exam. If they notice lumps or bumps, things that have not been in place for a long time, it's best to have that checked. That's one of the most important things is that self-examination," said Dr. Michael Giacalone of Hamilton Community Health Network.
There was a post mastectomy fitter and a hair loss specialist on hand to give consultations to breast cancer survivors during the event.
