Good Samaritan struck by car while offering help to other motorists
KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A good Samaritan looking to help during a crash now faces life-threatening injuries from being struck by a vehicle.
The incident happened just after 8:26 p.m. Wednesday on Bay Road at Kochville near Pierce Roads.
Sheriff Federspiel confirms there was a one-car crash involving a 61-year-old Saginaw woman in which the car went off the road and hit a fire hydrant.
A person who the sheriff calls a good Samaritan was heading parked their car in the center lane on Bay Road to help.
A 31-year-old male from Saginaw in that vehicle got out to render aid to the woman involved in the crash.
It’s at that point when the passenger was hit by a car driven by a 21-year-old woman from Waterford going at least 55 miles per hour.
The good Samaritan suffered life threatening injuries from the impact.
Neither the woman in the initial crash nor the 21-year-old suffered any injuries.
Sheriff Federspiel said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of his family.
Bay Road was closed between Kochville and Pierce for some time as crews investigated the scene.
