Flushing orchard celebrates winter solstice with cider party
FLUSHING, Mich. – Thursday is the first official day of winter and we've already had five more inches of snow than last year but that's not a reason to get down.
To bring in the season, Almar Orchards in Flushing is hosting a winter solstice party.
The theme is embrace the darkness and cherish the light.
On tap they'll have their signature winter cider and a brand-new honey crisp cider.
Guests can also enjoy non-alcoholic beverages, doughnuts and popcorn while celebrating the longest night of the year.
"Traditionally most orchard's close come winter they are done but because of JK's Farmhouse Cider we stay open all year around,” said Jessica Cooley of Almar.
Winter is an important time to those who grow apples because their trees take a nap to make sure they are ready for the next season.
