FBI and ATF involved in missing person turned murder investigation
Arbela Township, Mich.
The FBI and ATF are now involved in a missing person case turned murder investigation.
Thursday federal officials searched the initial crime scene, in Arbela Township.
Back in April, 33-year-old Neal Ellis disappeared. His remains, were found in Vassar Township.
His roommate, Aaron Eby, was charged.
Tuscola County Detective, James Hook, is saying very little about what brought them back to the initial scene. He also wouldn't comment on how the FBI and ATF became involved in a local crime. He does say he is grateful for their help.
"You can never have enough evidence and the FBI is offering us tools that we didn't have previously and wasn't previously available to our state crime lab," he says.
Detective Hook wouldn't elaborate on those tools.
Eby is still in jail, awaiting his court proceedings.
