Discussion scheduled for Monday on dioxin cleanup in Tittabawassee River

Near midland Monday, federal and state officials will discuss plans to clean up dioxin contaminated sediment in the Tittabawassee River and its banks.

The area stretches from Dow chemical Co. to Midland and Saginaw Townships.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency will select a final cleanup plan for more than 17 miles after receiving public input.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will also take part in the discussion.

The event will be held Monday at 6 p.m. in the Thomas Township Library.
