BURTON, Mich. - People were reaching out and eating out for a good cause in Burton.

From 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Starlite Coney Island donated a portion of its proceeds to the organization Reach and Traverse Place.

Reach provides a safe place for kids, teens and families in crisis.

Organizers say their organization plays a huge role in fighting human trafficking.

"A child who does not have a safe place to sleep will sleep anywhere. This is where Reach is so important for the comnponent of the human trafficking protocol, because it is a shelter service. It has beds available, anytime of the day, for a child to come in and be able to receive care, rest, counseling services," said Christina Tipton.
