BAY COUNTY, Mich. – The Bay County Dispatch center is urging drivers to stay off the roads unless travel is necessary.

Blowing snow and plummeting temperatures have led to dangerous road conditions.

Numerous crashes have been reported as a result.

An alert was also issued that Lafayette Bridge is extremely icy and vehicles are getting stuck on the top of the span with advice for drivers to find alternate routes.

County dispatch reminds drivers that while road crews have been plowing and dropping salt during the day, the salt’s effectiveness is taken away due to the windy, subzero conditions.
