Some local ladies painted the town red today and wore it too!

It's National Wear Red Day which is part of the Go Red for Women campaign, urging ladies to get heart healthy.

The American Heart Association held its annual Go Red for Women Luncheon at Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw Township.

Heart disease kills one woman every 80 seconds.

At the luncheon, women learned ways to prevent heart disease, how to be proactive for heart health and what local services are available.

Heart disease survivor Laurie Nevill says events like this are vital for women.

Laurie Nevill, Heart Disease Survivor said, "It gets the word out. It promotes heart health as well as funding for heart research and different things that keep the heart functioning. We get one in our life and our family wants you to be there...forever. So take care of that heart."
