Watch: Boys punch tickets to District Finals with buzzer beaters and thrillers


The boys took their turn in a week full of playoff games on Wednesday night, competing in District Semifinals around the region.

Meridian and Freeland battled down to the last minute, the Falcons pulling out a 46-42 victory thanks to some clutch plays by their seniors. They'll take on Bay City John Glenn in the District Finals.

Reese and Marlette battled at Millington, the Red Raiders jumping out to an early lead and keeping it, winning 67-58.

Thanks to a half-court buzzer beater at the end of the first quarter by Obie Ricumstrict, Mt Pleasant came out firing against Midland, winning 59-53. They'll play Dow, who beat Bay City Central, in the District Finals.

Swan Valley and Frankenmuth were neck and neck for much of the first half, but the Eagles came out of the locker room inspired, winning 64-52. They'll play Bridgeport in the Final.

Malik Ellison scored 32 points in a Beecher rout over Atherton, 98-65.

Powers and Northwestern went back and forth as well, but the Wildcats came out on top 64-61. They'll play Goodrich in the final.
