FNF Week 6: Soggy weather can't keep down top teams

In our Game of the Week, Fenton, despite the rainy weather, scored 41 points in the first half against rival Holly, going on to win 54-35. It was also Heroes Night in Fenton, where the players wore the names of veterans, police officers, firefighters and other first responders on their jerseys. They then presented those jerseys to those heroes after the game.

In Davison, the Cardinals scored 20 points in the first two quarters against Midland, the rains came, and the defense held for the rest of the game. Davison improved to 6-0 with the 20-0 victory.

Flushing and Ortonville-Brandon met in a Flint Metro League showdown at Flushing. The Raiders lead 8-7 at halftime but the Blackhawks struck first in the second half as quarterback Kevin Grigereit scored from 2-yards out on 4th and goal to give Ortonville-Brandon a 15-7 lead. The Blackhawks would hold on to win the game 23-16.

In Montrose the Rams hosted a Corunna team who came into the game unbeaten, but it was Montrose drawing first blood. A fumble inside the Corunna 10-yard line gave the Rams great field position and they capitalized as Kyler Thompson scored from a yard out to give Montrose a 7-0 lead. The Cavaliers responded later in the quarter as David Dumond took it 70 yards for the score. Corunna improves to 6-0 on the season with a 42-23 victory.
