The Davison Cardinals took at 14-0 lead into halftime against Lapeer on Friday night, but that's when lightning, not the Lapeer Lightning nickname, crackled around Lapeer's Center for Innovation. (Formerly known as Lapeer West High School).

The game was suspended until Saturday, so the Saginaw Valley League title would need to wait one more day to be decided.

About 15 degrees cooler and under a sun-filled sky, the third quarter began with some defense on Saturday afternoon. Lapeer had the momentum early, stopping Davison and bottling up Tariq Reid...for the time being. The Lightning were able to score at the start of the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 14-7. But, Reid started to gain traction, getting huge chunks of yardage. After he scored to make it 21-7 Davison, the Cardinals Nest yelled even louder when Davison forced an interception...which resulted in another Reid touchdown. The final score was 28-7, the Cardinals getting revenge after losing to Lapeer twice in a row to end the 2015 season. With the win, Davison clinches the Saginaw Valley League title.
