Conference Match-Ups Dominate Friday Night Football

John Glenn players get ready to take the field

Week 4 of the High School football season meant the start of conference play and for many of the week's match-ups, there were serious post season implications, starting in Freeland wherre the Falcons took on conference rival Alma. It was a game dominated by turnovers, or take-aways, depending on how you want to look at it. Freeland's secondary comes up with two key interceptions and they improve to 4-0 on the season with a 12-6 win.

In the G.A.C. Red, Beecher has been dominant over the last five years but this year appears to be a re-building season for head coach Courtney Hawkins. The Buccaneers were at Montrose Friday night and the Rams were ready. Montrose led 8-7 at halftime and they made a statement starting with the 2nd half opening kick-off, Josh Hayes found all kinds of running room around the left side and he took it into Bucs territory and Montrose seized the momentum in the process. Rams quarterback Kyler Thompson ran with purpose all night long, he ripped of a 35 yard run on the next play and then punched it into the endzone shortly thereafter. Montrose won the game 29-15.
