"Lax for Luke" just a piece of Luke Duncanson's Legacy
The third annual Lax for Luke suicide awareness game is set for Friday night. Grand Blanc will host Powers Catholic in boys lacrosse, playing not only for pride, but also for a cause.
Luke Duncanson took his life in 2014 at the age of 14, and since then his family and members of the community have worked to spread mental health awareness in his name, starting the Luke Duncanson Legacy Foundation. It's something the students have taken ownership of, and the night will include several opportunites to remember Luke and learn more about mental health.
The evening starts with the JV boys lacrosse game at 5:30, the varsity will play at 7 p.m. A banner will be signed, with the pom teams working on special routines as well. Those at the game can write their thoughts inside paper bags, which will be lit with glow sticks and line the track. Baseball hats, wristbands and t-shirts will all be available for fundraising for the foundation as well.
