Profitt Report: Politics and your retirement, what you need to know
During years of political change, financial professional Mindy McIntosh of McIntosh and Associates in Freeland said she often hears people wondering if politics in Washington D.C. will impact her clients in mid-Michigan.
“They really take a look at, is there much difference between democratic and republican? And do we need to worry about who's in the administration?” she said.
McIntosh said, data suggests there’s no conclusive evidence that the market is better under republicans or democrats.
“Just trying to teach clients, don't take an emotional pull on that, make sure you're depending on your financial advisor, planner, professional that's helping you with your accounts,” she said.
However, there is one wild card, said McIntosh: healthcare. As we watch to see if President Donald Trump will make good on his promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act, McIntosh said we need to wait, pay attention and see what changes.
