WATCH: Bridge demolition in southern Ohio/eastern Kentucky
IRONTON, OHIO (WCHS/WVAH) —
A bridge that connected Ironton, Ohio, to Russell, Kentucky, was demolished Wednesday morning, following the construction of a new bridge.
The Ironton-Russell Bridge was lined with charges, which were detonated starting at about 9:40 a.m.
The bridge, which spanned the Ohio River, had previously had its middle section removed.
Charges on the Kentucky side of the bridge were detonated first, with the second blast on the Ohio side coming about seven minutes after.
