Watch out! The season's first snowfall comes with dents and damage

The snow may look beautiful, but it has been the cause of a number of accidents across Mid-Michigan.

Employees at Auto Pride Collision in Flushing had their hands full on Wednesday, but General Manager Scott Chapman said this was just the beginning.

The first big snowfall means the next few days there will be an influx in the number of damaged cars coming into the shop.

Between the five locations, Chapman said they had a least a dozen of damaged cars brought in due to weather-related accidents.

In order to avoid getting in an accident, he said to do the following two things: stay off the road and slow down.

"On the phone... excessive speed is most of the issues with getting in accidents right now," he said.

Another way to avoid getting into an accident, he said, is to stay home if you can.

In fact, a number of people followed that rule.

Many businesses in mid-Michigan had empty parking lots and little to no customers.
