Senator Ananich, Flint City Council meet to discuss water relief funding
FLINT, Mich. - Flint City Councilman Eric Mays wants the state to use a $6 million reserve fund to keep water pods open.
But that may not be possible.
During a special meeting of the Flint City Council, Senator Jim Ananich questioned Governor Snyder's abrupt closing of the water pods.
He says council could urge the governor to use that reserve fund to keep the pods open.
But the governor would have the final say.
Ananich says the larger issue is how the $495 million in state and federal funds earmarked for Flint water, has been spent.
"So little of that money came directly to the citizens,” he added.
Ananich feels bottled water should be given out until the pipes are replaced.
He's working with private donors to keep the bottles coming.
