Saginaw County gas leak shuts down highway, three businesses

MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A gas leak in Saginaw County caused the evacuation of three businesses and has shut down M-57 for hours.

The gas leak happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon

Part of M-57 at Lincoln Road was still shut down in Saginaw County through Wednesday night while crews worked to fix it, according to Saginaw County dispatch.

Maple Grove Township Fire Chief Pat Andres says construction was taking place in the area when a main was ruptured, causing the three businesses to evacuate.

Crews were expected to have repairs completed sometime after 2 a.m. Thursday.
