Police: adult man impersonating 12-year-old to solicit young girls online

TITTABAWASSEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Tittabawassee Township Police Department reports they are investigating an incident involving an adult man communicating with young girls under a false online identity.

According to police, the 37-year-old man impersonated a 12-year-old boy in order to solicit inappropriate photos from at least one young female student via Instagram.

Police say they have identified the suspect, executed search warrants and have been in contact with the student’s parents.

Freeland Schools Superintendent Matt Cairy has issued a Criminal Trespass Warning to the suspect barring him from being at any Freeland School property or being at any school events, reported police.

Anyone with information on this matter or whose child may have received an Instagram message from this individual using the Instagram names: “Saginawbaseball;trevor” “tKnightFreeland:Saginaw Baseball” or “23basketballJones23;Knight” is asked to contact Detective Brian J. Berg via email.

Once police conclude their investigation, the incident will be turned over to the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Police say they do not feel the individual identified in this incident poses a threat at this point.
