New security measures rolled out at Dow Event Center
MIDLAND, Mich. --Thousands of people are heading into the Dow Event Center in Saginaw to see a Michigan rock and roll icon.
Before they get inside, they have to go through the Dow's new security measures.
The doors at the Dow opened to the public at six Thursday, and people are going through ten brand new metal detectors in the Dow atrium.
Thursday’s concert with Bob Seger is the first time the Dow is using these metal detectors.
In addition to the new hardware, there is a size limit to bags and purses and a few new items have been added to the banned list including balloons and selfie sticks.
Representatives at the Dow say these new security procedures were put in place to keep everyone who walks through the doors protected.
"All venues across the nation are taking measures to really make sure that not only are the fans safe but also the artists and the employees. There have been incidents around the world as I'm sure you're aware of where fans Safety have been an issue and it's unfortunate and we don't want that here," said Dow Event Center Marketing Manager Suzanne Sharp.
