Hundreds gather in Ortonville to honor deputy killed in the line of duty
ORTONVILLE, Mich. --A solemn remembrance was held Sunday in Ortonville for a deputy killed in the line of duty in northern Oakland County.
Investigators believe the suspect intentionally ran off the road to hit deputy Eric Overall early Thanksgiving morning in Brandon Township.
This all happened as Overall was laying out stop sticks during a police chase.
The suspect, 22-year-old Christopher Berak is now charged with two counts of murder.
Hundreds traveled to downtown Ortonville have come out to honor Deputy Overall.
It's been a night of hugs and tears, as people from not only right here in mid-Michigan but across the state come out to pay tribute to Deputy Overall.
