Grand Blanc student sharing message of distracted driving dangers to millions
Grand Blanc, Mich.(WSMH) —
Grand Blanc High School Senior James Hegarty probably got an ‘A’ on his last art project. Hegarty entered a contest through the Transportation Improvement Association to design a new billboard and other signs to raise awareness about the danger of distracted driving. Now his design is going to be on billboards next to roads and highways across the state. He says he found out he won the award while on a spring break trip in Mexico.
“It was quite the surprise. I hope those thirteen or sixteen million people who have the potential to see it change their ways.” Hegarty says.
Hegarty also won a $500 cash prize in the contest.
