Genesee County Health Dept. investigating case of Legionnaires at Flint nursing home
FLINT, Mich. -- Genesee County Health Department confirms they are currently investigating one case of Legionella disease at the Heritage Manor Healthcare Center on Beecher Road in Flint.
According to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, this is the first case of Legionella disease in 2018. MDHHS says this case was discovered Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The Genesee County Health Department can’t say if the patient is still at the healthcare center.
The health department says the center is cooperating fully with the investigation. The center has been instructed to use water filters on all the faucets and shower heads to minimize the risk.
They are also instructed to use bottled water only for all patients.
