GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. - FOX66 is once again handing out the "Golden Apple Award," which celebrates local K-12 teachers for their tremendous work.

After tallying over 10,000, Sondra Cummings was declared "FOX66's Golden Apple Award" winner!

Cummings is a third-grade teacher at Jack P. Haas Elementary School in Genesee Township.

In her third year of teaching at Haas, Cummings says she has come full circle.

She feels right at home teaching in Genesee, where she grew up.

"Honestly I was so shocked to even know I was nominated which was so cool that it self but my students were so excited so excited to vote every day and sharing it on Facebook and so were their families I really wasn’t expecting this,” said Cummings.

FOX66 will take nominations for the Golden Apple Award again in January.
