Flushing girls’ basketball team makes history with Class A state title

The Flushing girls’ basketball team made history Saturday with their first ever state title in girls’ basketball with a win over East Kentwood at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.

In the first half, Breanna Perry with the hard cut to the rim, Flushing took a two-point lead into halftime.

In the second half, Perry was at it again with a lay-up and foul giving Flushing a 12-point lead as they started to pull away.

Lauren Newman also sprang into action in the fourth quarter, helping her team to victory.

Flushing wins the Class A state title 49-38 and the celebration began.

This is only the second state title in the school’s history for Flushing, and the girls say they're very much looking forward to hanging a banner in the gym.
