BAY CITY, Mich. - The Bay City Lions Club stepped up to help the hungry in Bay County.

Several hundred families lined up this morning at the Salvation Army in Bay City to pick up food.

Giving out food is something the Lions Club does several times a year.

People were asked to bring a bag or boxes and take whatever they needed.

In all, several thousand pounds of food was given away.

We talked to a Lions Club member who says it's all about giving back.

"That's the best part is seeing their smiling faces, ‘thank yous’, I mean it's just never ending. it's just amazing the feeling you get from helping these folks," said club president Wade Eckenrod.

In addition to giving out food, the Lions Club buys hearing aids, glasses and leader dogs for those who need them.

They will be out this weekend in Bay City on several street corners collecting donations.
