Bay City Country Music Festival kicks off, bringing country fans to town
BAY CITY, Mich. —
The River Roar may be gone, but you can hear the roar of country music in Bay City.
This weekend kicked off the First Annual Bay City Country Music Festival at Wenonah Park.
From the littlest of country fans to the more seasoned concert-goers, people came from all over to listen to some good ‘ole country music.
Many said they’re just happy to finally hear some country right here in Bay City and not have to go elsewhere to do so.
“I would have to drive to Detroit or like Standish,” one concert-goer said. “So having it in the area… it's a lot better."
While the River Roar isn’t happening this year, the manager of Wenonah Park said he's happy to bring something new to town.
"We’re doing different things, trying different things and people are enjoying it and coming out to see it,” manager Mike Bacigalupo said.
He said seeing how much people enjoy it makes it all worth it.
"And they're all having a great time,” he said. “It's great family time for them."
The party doesn't end Friday night.
Frankie Ballard will be performing Saturday evening and general admission is $25.
