Assault suspect on the loose in Grand Blanc Township

GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. --Michigan State Police and the Grand Blanc Township Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman and then set her home on fire.


It happened in the 5000 block of Kimberly Drive in Grand Blanc Township.

The victim, who is in her 40s, tells police she was assaulted by a black male wearing black clothing as she was walking into her home.

Police say they believe the woman knew the suspect.

He then poured out some gasoline and set her home on fire.

The woman had minor injuries.

MSP and Grand Blanc Township Police have set up a perimeter in the area, and have also brought in a K9 unit to search for the suspect.

Grand Blanc Community Schools and Holy Family Catholic School were placed in secure mode because of this incident.

Parent-teacher conferences that were scheduled at Grand Blanc East and Grand Blanc West middle schools will go on as scheduled.
