Accused sex traffickers facing dozens of charges after alleged victim escapes

Three people accused of sex trafficking in Flint are each being charged with over a dozen crimes, according to Flint City Police Detective Tyrone Booth. (WEYI)

FLINT, Mich. --Three people accused of sex trafficking in Flint are each being charged with over a dozen crimes, according to Flint City Police Detective Tyrone Booth.

A 41-year-old Darius Thames is facing 15 charges, which include:

  • 2 counts of kidnapping
  • 2 counts of torture
  • 4 counts of human trafficking
  • 3 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct
  • Felonious assault
  • 2 counts of carrying a firearm while committing a felony
  • Possession of ammunition by a felon

A 27-year-old Emily Draheim is facing 13 charges, which include:

  • 2 counts of kidnapping
  • 2 counts of torture
  • 4 counts of human trafficking
  • 4 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct
  • Carrying a firearm while committing a felony
  • Possession of ammunition

A 25-year-old Trey Steward is facing 13 charges, which include:

  • 2 counts of kidnapping
  • 1 count of torture
  • 4 counts of human trafficking
  • 4 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct
  • Carrying a firearm while committing a felony
  • Possession of ammunition by a felon

All suspects remain jailed in Flint City Lockup.

This comes after a reports of a woman who allegedly had been being held against her will at a home in the 600 block of Freeman Avenue in Flint.

The woman escaped, and then called police to Teaser’s Gentlemen’s Club, located at 2545 South Grand Traverse Street.

After that, crews with the Flint Police Department, the Genesee County Sheriff and the Michigan State Police responded to the home.

Detective Booth said the victim had not been reported missing, and the case is not part of a larger investigation into sex crimes or human trafficking.
