Bay County unveils new user-friendly voting system
BAY COUNTY, Mich. -- When residents in Bay County cast their ballots this August, they'll be using a new voting system.
The new equipment comes thanks to a $407,000 grant from the state.
Bay County is one of the first to use this new system that promises to be quicker, quieter, and more user-friendly.
Voters will still select their candidate using what is known as the optical scan where you fill in the oval or you can write in a candidates name.
According to Bay County Clerk Cynthia Luczak, the upgrade will make the process less intimidating for voters.
The clerk's office plans to hold demonstrations for residents with this new equipment before the upcoming August 8 election.
